Ringing in 2024: Psalms of Praise and Gratitude
As we stand on the threshold of 2024, bidding farewell to 2023, let us reflect on the following verse:
Psalm 7:17 KJV
"I will praise the LORD according to his righteousness:
And will sing praise to the name of the LORD most high."
The psalmist exalts and sings praises to the Lord, providing
a beautiful conclusion to the year through contemplation of how the Lord has
accompanied us throughout. Numerous miracles have graced our journey, for which
we must offer our gratitude. Thank God for His protective hand that has guided
us to the year's final day. Gratitude is to be extended for the gift of good
health, and the blessings bestowed upon us are truly boundless.
While many around the world celebrate with revelry,
feasting, and merriment, this verse suggests an alternative—engaging in a
divine appointment with the Lord. Sing hymns, raise joyful worship songs, and
partake in the divine meal—the Holy Communion—while reflecting on His
righteousness.
Additionally, let us consider two more verses:
Psalm 106:1 KJV
"Praise ye the LORD. O give thanks unto the LORD; for
he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever."
Psalm 106:1 KJV
"O give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good: for his
mercy endureth for ever."
God is eternally good, and our continuous thanks are to be offered
to him. Whether prayers find fulfillment or not, gratitude is to be expressed.
Acknowledge His goodness; even unfulfilled prayers are part of His divine plan,
ensuring blessings come at the appointed time.
Like school timetables meticulously approved by principals,
God has intricately planned certain aspects of your life in 2023. Express
thanks for all that transpired and anticipate that some blessings will unfold
in the future. Maintain hope, express gratitude, and step into 2024 with
expectations filled with goodness and the presence of Christ.
God bless you!
In Christ,
Stephen John Brother
