My son, receive, and hide!
One of my team members provided this interesting bible verse during today's early morning bible session. I was so enthralled by the concept that I decided to share what I had learned with everyone.
My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide
my commandments with thee; Proverbs 2:1
(KJV)
Before I go
into detail about what I've learned, I'd like to draw your attention to one
point. The author begins this chapter with the words "My son." Isn't
that incredible?
The word 'my' means "belonging to."
My son denotes “close relationship”.
'My Son' means "you belong to God" and have a
special relationship with Him. Hallelujah!
It's
possible that no one cares about you. But keep in mind that you are God's child
and have a special place in HIS heart. The fact that you're a child of
God means that you don't need to live in fear or despair. When the Heavenly
Father addresses you as "My Son," it signifies you are not of this
world, which is why you are mistreated. Remember how Jesus was treated in our society?
One of the
advantages of reading the Bible is that it speaks directly to you. God's word
is alive, and it will comfort and renew you. What more do you need than to be
God's child?
My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide
my commandments with thee; Proverbs 2:1
If I were to elaborate, I'd say we need to do two things.
First, read God's word, and then accept it into your heart. We can't receive
God's word into our hearts unless we read or hear it. Let us approach God’s
word with an open mind and an open heart.
Seek the Holy Spirit's guidance, and let the message sink
into your heart every time you read God's word. Make a mental note of what you
learned from your Bible reading. Additionally, try to spread your reading out
across the course of the day.
Reading the Bible every day will provide us with the power
we need for the day, as it is known as "daily bread." Only through
reading and drawing strength from God's word will we be able to survive in this
world. The ‘word of God’ is a shield for God's children. When Jesus was tempted
by Satan, He utilized God's word as a weapon to resist him.
Another thing I noted in today's bible reading is that we
must and should only accept God's word in our hearts, and that the rest of the
messages we hear (from many sources-radio, social media, people) should not be
heeded or taken seriously. We are all inundated with information these days,
but it is not necessary to hold it in our hearts.
“Receive”
means to take or get something that is given.
God wants
to bless you because you are his child. We must be receptive to God's word.
Receiving God's message offers a number of benefits. We can maintain a healthy
heart through receiving God's word.
Our
heavenly Father's heart is exemplified in this verse (always wanting to bless
his children).
My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide
my commandments with thee; Proverbs 2:1
Hide is a
word that implies "to conceal" or "to keep secret." To put
it another way, treasure what you've learned from God's word. This is the true
wealth that a man can own in this life.
Finally, my dear friends, listening to the word, embracing
the word, and immersing oneself in the word of God are the keys to ‘wisdom’ and
‘understanding’. And a man who has God's wisdom and understanding will progress
in all areas of life.
God bless you!
