O MY SOUL, BLESS THE LORD!
Psalm 103:1-2 (KJV)
1.
Bless
the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.
2.
Bless
the Lord, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits:
Yes, let us 'bless the Lord.' Let us always give
thanks to the Lord. It is a great honor to be able to say the most precious
name in the world, "Jesus." The Psalmist insists on blessing the Lord
physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
Praise be to his holy name. The heavenly beings
constantly praise the most-high God who sits on the throne in heaven. They
exclaim, "Holy, holy, holy," and never stop worshipping him.
If you comprehend that God loves you unconditionally,
you will respond by singing his praises all of the time. The Lord sacrificed
everything to save you, and once you realize this, you will worship him with
all your heart and soul.
Blessing the Lord has such a powerful effect that it
will begin to flow benefits into your life. Blessing the Lord is a blessing in
itself. Worshiping the Lord has a tremendous amount of power. What a blessing
that the verse that began with Blessing the Lord also blesses you! You might
wonder how this is possible. Look at Isaiah
6:4 in the Bible. The entire heaven was filled with the Lord's power when
the seraphims began to praise him. Begin praising God if you want his power to
be released in your life. You will witness his mighty hand at work in your
life.
Take a close look at the seraphims' worship format;
each had six wings: two for covering his face, two for covering his feet, and
two for flying. “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole world is full
of His glory,” one screamed to another. They are worshipping the Lord with all
their might, and they are praising God with everything they have. We must do
the same. True worship is not lip service or haphazard worship. It has to
originate from within; true worship requires your entire being to surrender and
submit to the Lord. In the Gospel of
John, Jesus explains that the Lord seeks faithful worshipers who thank him
in truth and spirit.
We live in a sinful environment, and it's
understandable that we might accidentally engage in some wicked behavior or
unholy activity. We get sanctified by worshipping the holy name
"Jesus," and his holiness rubs off on us. You become holy while
blessing the holiest name, hallelujah!
Moving on to the second verse (Psalm 103:2), the poet exhorts us not to forget the blessings
bestowed upon us. It is our human nature to have prayer requests but we do not
maintain a thank-you list. We keep asking lord to bless us in all our areas of
life. But we do not thank him for all the blessings that he has blessed us
with. What a blessing it would have been if we had kept track of the blessings
we received.
Take a look at some of the blessings
that God has bestowed upon us. The air we inhale is such a gift. Covid has
instilled in us all the value of breathing, the lungs, and their proper
functioning. One of the many benefits God has bestowed upon us is the ability
to breathe freely.
God created us with eyes to see, ears
to hear, legs to walk, hands to hold, and so on...
The blind individual would be thrilled
to have his vision restored; all he would need in life is that. Are we giving
God enough credit for the healthy functioning of all of our body organs? Are we
expressing gratitude for the good health he has provided?
We have a family, friends, and
relatives, as well as a job, a place to live, and clothes. Let us thank him for
all these blessings.
When we thank God for all of his
blessings and continue to share his goodness with those around us, he will
continue to bless us.
The Israelites were intended to take on the colossal
'goliath.' But they were so terrified that no one from Israel's army dared to
confront him. Even King Saul was terrified and unsure how to defeat the
behemoth. David approached the King and declared that he would confront the
monster. Saul was perplexed because David was only a young boy. David reassured
the king that he believed in his God and that he would be able to vanquish the
beast with His help. He recited a list of his blessings. He was looking after
his father's sheep. He had to fight off a bear and a lion while shepherding. He
had slain the monsters and rescued his sheep. King Saul gained confidence as a
result of this, and he consented to send David to fight Goliath. When Goliath
saw David, he asked, "Do you think I'm a dog because you come with a
stick?"
David was keeping track of all of his blessings while
also fearlessly sharing his tale. As a result, he was willing to take on any
task. He wasn't afraid to attack his foes, no matter who they were. Yes,
thanking God for all of his tremendous mercies and sharing our testimony with
others inspires them, gives them confidence, and gives you even more power. As
you grow in the Lord, all of your mountain-sized problems become trivial. This
is exactly what happened in David's life. We all know that David defeated
Goliath and went on to become King of Israel.
It's fine to have prayer requests, and keeping a
prayer list isn't a problem. But can we also keep track of all the blessings?
Are you sharing your testimonies on a regular basis, or are you afraid to share
them with your friends? We love to show off our new bikes and other
possessions; why aren't we showing off Jesus to the rest of the world?
Jesus did not hesitate to die on the cross for you.
You are living a peaceful life as a result of his death. Blessing the Lord does
not only imply public or private worship. It also entails telling others about
the miracles he has performed in your life. The gift of salvation is the greatest blessing in one's life. Be a
blessing by sharing the Gospel with your friends.
When you practice counting your blessings and share
them with others, you are empowered to face any challenge that life throws at
you. You become more confident in the Lord, and you begin to focus on how great
the Lord is rather than your problems.
Remember God's blessings and continue
to worship him with all your heart.
God bless you!
