Holy Communion: Nourishing Our Mind, Body, and Soul - Our Divine Diet!

As the sun gently illuminated the pages of the Holy Bible, I found myself engrossed in my daily portion of spiritual nourishment. Currently, I am reading the book of Deuteronomy, specifically chapter 14, which discusses the dietary laws. This chapter belongs to the fifth book of Moses in the Old Testament. The Lord, with meticulous attention, lays out what is permissible and what is not when it comes to food.

God, through Moses, explicitly specifies the types of meat that can be eaten and those that should be avoided. However, as I read on, the Holy Spirit prompts me to pause and contemplate the relevance of these laws in our lives today. It occurs to me that these ancient dietary restrictions no longer apply to us, given the teachings of the New Testament.

Recalling the verses (from Matthew 26, Luke 22, and John 6) where Jesus spoke of eating his flesh and drinking his blood, I am reminded of the spiritual feast that now unites us with Christ. This act of communion serves as a regular reminder of his finished work on the cross and provides us with the strength we need in our daily lives.

Unlike physical food that nourishes and strengthens our bodies, the body and blood of Christ represent the ultimate spiritual sustenance. This sacred practice of partaking in remembrance of him allows us to be continually connected to his sacrifice and draws us closer to our Savior.

In conclusion, the divine diet of the body and blood of Christ supersedes the ancient dietary laws, offering us a profound and everlasting source of nourishment for our mind, body, and souls. Through this blessed communion, we find the strength to endure and the faith to persevere, embracing the gift of eternal life and the hope it brings.

So, tomorrow, on the Lord's Day, go and joyfully join your brothers and sisters in Christ, partaking in His communion, and receive the spiritual strength and nourishment that only He can provide. Then, with renewed faith and a heart filled with gratitude, you will embrace the week and month ahead, fortified by the presence of the Savior in your life.

God Bless You!

In Christ,

Stephen John Brother
