Go — For I Am With You

Today, this is what I preached in the church.

Verses: Matthew 28:19–20 & Exodus 3

Introduction

Both in the Old Testament and the New, God begins His greatest missions with one simple word: “Go.”
In Exodus, God told Moses, “Go to Pharaoh and bring My people out of Egypt.”
In Matthew, Jesus told His disciples, “Go and make disciples of all nations.”

Different times. Different people.
Same God.
Same command.
Same promise - “I am with you.”

1. The Word “Go” - From Fear to Faith

  • After Jesus’ death, the disciples were hiding - fearful, uncertain, silent.

  • Jesus appears and gives them one life-changing command: “Go.”

  • “Go” is an action word (verb) - Jesus was calling them out of confinement and into movement.

  • Even the word “Gospel” begins with “Go.”

Truth: Faith that doesn’t move, dies. Jesus is life - and life moves.

  • The next book after the Gospels is “The Acts.” The disciples didn’t stay hidden; they acted.

  • Peter went from fearful to fiery - preaching and seeing thousands saved.

  • Thomas carried the Gospel all the way to India.

Point: When Jesus said “Go,” He wasn’t just sending them — He was awakening them.

2. The Great Commission Mirrors the Burning Bush

  • Moses, too, was hiding - tending sheep in the wilderness after failure in Egypt.

  • Jehovah appears and says, “Go, for I will send you to Pharaoh.”

  • Moses says, “Who am I that I should go?”

  • God replies, “I will be with you.”

God sent Moses back to the same people who once rejected him and wanted to kill him.
Sometimes God sends you back into the very place that wounded you - not to relive your past, but to redeem it.

What you ran away from might be the exact place God wants to show His power through you.

  • Jehovah said, “I AM WHO I AM.”

  • Jesus said, “I am with you always.”

Connection: It’s not a new voice. It’s the same eternal God - revealing Himself in different ways.

3. One Mission, Three Expressions

Jesus said, “Baptize them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.”

Why all three? Because it’s one mission through three revelations of the same God (JESUS name above all names).

Role    RevelationExpression
Father        Jehovah in the Old Testament         Sent Moses
Son        Jesus in the New Testament         Sent the disciples
Spirit        God’s presence now         Sends and strengthens us

Three in one.
Not three gods - one God working across generations, redeeming and restoring.

The same Spirit that burned in the bush burned in the upper room.
The same voice that said “Go” to Moses says “Go” to you today.

4. God’s Math - One Person Equals a Nation

God’s arithmetic doesn’t match ours.

  • He sent one man --> Moses --> and delivered a nation.

  • He sent eleven men --> the disciples --> and reached the world.

Point: You may feel small, but if God is with you, you’re already more than enough.

Moses + God = Deliverance
Peter + God = Revival
You + God = Impact

When He says “Go,” He’s not asking you to perform — He’s inviting you to partner. He said “Go,” Moses obeyed — and Israel was delivered. He said “Go” to the disciples — and the world received the Good News. Now He is sending you. Are you willing to partner with Him? If yes, be ready to see His mighty hand at work.

5. So, Are You Going or Sitting?

Ask yourself:

  • Are you active, or confined?

  • Are you moving in faith, or staying in comfort?

You may not have to go across the world, but you can step out of whatever keeps you spiritually passive.

Spend time with Him.
Listen to Him.
Be filled with His presence.

Have you stopped praying? Then it’s time to go deep in prayer.
That’s where God spoke to Moses — alone in the desert.
That’s where He spoke to the disciples — on the mountain in Galilee
When you go deep in prayer, you don’t just talk to God; you start hearing from God.
And when you do, His word moves you to action.

Because when you’re full of His presence, you naturally share His message.
And when you “go” in obedience, you don’t go alone — the I AM goes with you.

Closing Thought

From the desert to the upper room, from Moses to the disciples, from then to now — it’s one unbroken story of a God who calls, sends, and stays.

Exodus (Father – Jehovah) → Gospels (Son – Christ) → Acts and now (Spirit – Holy Spirit).

The command is still the same: “Go.”
And the promise is still the same: “I am with you.”

So go —
not in your strength, but in His.
Not in fear, but in faith.
Because when the Great I AM is with you, you can do mighty things.

God bless you!

In Christ,

Stephen John Brother
