Bring HOPE to others!
On Saturday (July 2, 2022) evening, I went to the salon to get my hair cut, but it was closed. I went back to my house and contacted the salon two hours later to see if they had opened. The hairstylist answered the phone. He informed me that they were closed and wouldn't reopen for a few days. I asked him why he was speaking to me in such a hushed, melancholy tone, as he usually speaks extremely loudly. He informed me that his younger brother (aged 25 years old and working in the same field) had committed suicide. Hearing this astounded me. I wanted to know why. He claimed that his brother left a suicide note stating that he was done with life and had little hope of ever accomplishing anything, so he decided to end his own life. He hung himself on the ceiling fan. Additionally, he mentioned that his brother never made friends or confided in anyone. Despite his brother's schooling at a respected institution, the hairstylist said, he was not a great beautician. He hung up after saying he'd call me later.
Hearing about his brother's passing made me feel really sad. As I sat on my balcony, I began to think about how sensitive we've all become in today's world. We have lost the ability to accept failure or rejection. Being very competitive and constant comparison can be detrimental to one's mental health.Suicidal ideas become more frequent over time. It doesn't take place all at once. Such people exhibit particular characteristics and symptoms. These people have a higher tendency to isolate themselves, to feel unhappy, anxious, and to complain. They also have a higher propensity to experience mental depression.
When we notice such people around us, we should offer support to them. We might try to cheer them up. We can play the role of their friends, allowing them to be entirely honest with us and express their feelings to us. It's crucial to surround yourself with encouraging and upbeat people in life. People who are toxic and negative can injure us more. Being polite and emphatic could help that person feel more comfortable asking for help. Even if we cannot assure them that they will stop harming themselves, we can attempt to change their attention. Anyone can experience these catastrophes.
Each person is special and unique. God has endowed everyone of us with a special talent, and everyone possesses a different set of skills. When we are doing work that best reflects our talents and skill set, we will excel and enjoy what we do. Instead of making comparisons, we should start recognizing and appreciating our individuality. In the age of AI and ML, we have the capacity to use natural intelligence and human language to address pressing issues that the people in our immediate environment are facing.
Psalm 31:14-16 - But I am trusting you, O Lord, saying, “You are my God!” My future is in your hands. Rescue me from those who hunt me down relentlessly. Let your favor shine on your servant. In your unfailing love, rescue me.
