Eyes and Heart!
In the month of October 2021, I finished a bible study in
which I meditated on chapters from the book of Proverbs. October has 31 days,
and Proverbs has 31 chapters. As a result, each day a new chapter was pondered.
God spoke to me through this verse on October 23rd, and I took mental notes of
it. I'm posting it on the blog since it's perfect for the Christmas season.
Proverbs
23:26 (AMP)
My son, give me your heart
And let your eyes delight in my
ways,
God refers to you
as his son and daughter, implying that this verse is intended for God’s family rather
than worldly individuals.
God invites you
to surrender your heart and eyes to him. Isn't this strange? This is something we
must comprehend in this article.
Giving God your heart is the most valuable present you can
give him of all the gifts and offers you can make. There are numerous Bible
passages that deal with the subject of "heart." I've included a few
to give you some ideas:
Above all else, guard your heart, for everything
you do flows from it. Proverbs 4:23
The heart is deceitful above all
things and beyond cure. Who can understand it? “I the Lord search the heart and
examine the mind, to reward each person according to their conduct, according
to what their deeds deserve.” Jeremiah 17:9-10
You will seek me and find me when you seek me with
all your heart. Jeremiah 29:13
For where your treasure is, there your heart will
be also. Matthew 6:21
For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder,
adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander. Matthew 15:19
You must have understood the
significance of committing your heart to Jesus without even having to explain
the notion. Isn't that so? Yes, that is why I provided those biblical verses,
so you can focus your attention on reading this essay for the time being. Pay
close attention to this essay, dear reader; I am confident it will be
beneficial.
People who
have succumbed to temptation include:
·
In the
book of Genesis, Eve fails. Her gaze was drawn to the forbidden fruit.
·
Sodom and
Gomorrah were on Lot's (Abraham’s nephew's) mind. We all know what happened to
him and how things turned out.
·
David's
heart and eyes were set on Bathsheba.
·
Gheazi's
heart and eyes were set on Naaman's gift.
·
The young
man (in the New Testament) yearned for Jesus' approval, but he was enslaved by
his money (see Luke 18:18–30).
Examples of men who have stood
the test and overcome adversity include:
·
The devil
displayed the entire world before Jesus in an attempt to entice him by
exhibiting the glory of earthly things. Satan tempted Jesus, but he never
succumbed to the temptations because he always had the Word of God at his
fingertips, which he used to overcome all temptations. Like you and me, He
dwelt on earth in the flesh. That is the reason He was also referred to as a
"son of man."
· Joseph was
never disobedient to his heavenly father. He could have easily succumbed to the
temptation, but he decided to suffer and be good in God's eyes over seeking a
fleeting pleasure and becoming bad in God's eyes. In the Bible, Joseph is a
type of Jesus, which is why I've used him as an example.
We are all weak in the flesh in this digital age, and our hearts fixed on the wrong things will lead to ruin. The only smart decision we can make throughout our time on earth is to commit our hearts to Jesus and keep our eyes fixed on him at all times.
According to Proverbs 23:26,
God asks you to give, but he does not force you to do so. He will only ask you
to give if you are willing; otherwise, he will not compel you to do so.
Proverbs 23:27
mentions strange women and prostitution, both of which lead to ruin. He used
this as an example to teach us something. Anything other than Jesus that takes
up residence in your heart and draws your gaze is odd, and it will cause you to
stray from God's path.
Money-focused eyes, worldly friends, and too much media (TV,
social media, mobile) are just a few examples of things that might take you
away from God's Kingdom.
Jesus' heart and eyes were always fixed
on His father! How about you?
WWW.DOT.COM will cause you to trip and fall. (Women, wealth, and wine).
All of these can be found on the web (W). People waste their time and money on
this without thinking. Even children's hearts and eyes are hooked on such
nonsense. Instead of "web," can we shift our eyes to the
"WORD"?
“Giving” is the central theme of the Christmas season. The Father gave us His Son. Jesus gave us his life to save
us. Offering our hearts to Jesus is the true spirit of Christmas.
Mary and Joseph surrendered their hearts to the Lord and
focused their attention on the Word of God.
You can rededicate yourself to Him if you've strayed from
His path. Today is the day to make that decision.
Will you offer Jesus your heart this
Christmas?
Blessed Christmas!
