We ought to!
Acts 5:29 (KJV)
Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought
to obey God rather than men.
In this verse, Peter and the other
apostles offer us a valuable lesson. Let's have a look at the article to learn
more about it.
By nature, Peter would be unstable
and fearful. We can see this in the Bible; there are numerous instances where
he is depicted in this manner.
There are two versions of Peter: one
in the Gospels and another from Acts onwards. What was the reason for this? Why
has Peter's personality changed?
Peter denied Christ in the Gospel,
but now he is obeying God rather than men!
Peter was an influencer as well, and his team would follow
his lead. One such occasion that comes to mind is when other disciples were
mindlessly following Peter (see John 21:3). In the book of Acts, all of these
men, however, go through a change.
These heroes are shown as men who are bold, courageous, and
God-obedient. Hallelujah! I call these apostles heroes because they have put
Christ first in their lives and no longer worry about their own lives. And
these godly men have given their lives for the sake of Christ. Isn't that
amazing?
Disobedience is depicted in the first book of the Bible.
God's command was disobeyed by Adam and Eve. They've taken a bite out of the
forbidden fruit. As a result, they were both cast out of Eden.
We see the act of obedience by the
men of God in the first book of the New Testament (of course, after the four
Gospels). The disciples and 120 members heeded God's word and sat in the
upper room, seeking the anointing. Following the anointing, these men are
completely transformed into new people. And they are now making such strong
statements.
Jesus Christ obediently followed His
Father's instructions. Following the Father’s orders, he gave his life to save
mankind.
There are numerous examples of people
who obeyed God in the Bible (my favourites are Joseph and Daniel).
What happens if you obey God? The key
to winning God's heart is obedience. I'm not asking you to impress God
with your good works by saying this. Obeying God's word is the only good work. When
his people obey his Word, God rejoices.
Acts is, in my
opinion, a fitting name for the book. It was time for God's men to act, and
they did so under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
“Ought to” is used to express an
obligation or an expectation that someone should do something.
The text (Acts 5:29) implies that obeying God is a "must"; there
is no other option. Remember, God does not force himself on you; you have the
freedom to obey anyone you want, whether it is God or men. It is all up to you.
We shall choose whether to consume the fruit of obedience or disobedience. But,
in my opinion, obeying God should be our sole option.
So, how about you? Do you follow
God's word or man's word? Take time to reflect in God's presence and make the
changes that the Holy Spirit desires.
Obey HIM rather than them!
God bless you!
Whatever the situation we are facing just obey the god. Hallelujah ❤️
